Ambassador's Message

Greetings our dear visitor. I would like to thank you for visiting the webpage of Uganda High Commission in Pretoria. Our Mission is also accredited to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Kingdom of ESwatini.

Let me take this opportunity to notify you that I commenced my tour of duty as Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa on 30th July 2022. I would like to commend my predecessors for discharging their duties admirably during their respective tours of duty. For it is upon the foundation of their hard work and achievements that I will further build.

Prior to my deployment to Pretoria, I served as the Member of Parliament for Dokolo North Constituency from 2016 to 2021, where I was the Chairperson for the Parliamentary Committee on ICT, Chairperson of Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Media as well as member of the Committee on Equal Opportunities and the Committee on Education and Sports.

Our High Commission will continue to effectively implement Uganda’s Foreign policy by promoting and protecting Uganda’s interests abroad. During my tour of duty, emphasis will be put on Commercial and Economic diplomacy i.e., promotion of trade, investment, tourism and technology transfers. We aim at increasing volumes of trade between Uganda and our countries of accreditation.

The bilateral relations between Uganda and South Africa were further strengthened with the holding of the 2nd session of the Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC) from 7th to 12th July 2022 in Kampala. The JCC is a framework that deepens and facilitates our collaborations across all sectors e.g., Tourism, ICT, Trade and Investment, Education, Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Transport among others. I urge you to take full advantage of the conducive environment created by the renewed JCC. We aspire to sign similar JCCs between Uganda and our other countries of accreditation.

Uganda revived her National Airline - Uganda Airlines in August, 2019. Therefore, with the introduction of direct flights travelers are guaranteed of reduced journey times and an exciting flying experience. Uganda is implementing an export - led growth strategy and the great cargo capabilities of our Airbus A330neo is a big boost for our export aspirations.  Therefore, I urge you to leverage of the direct flights by increasing both passenger and cargo traffic between Entebbe to Johannesburg.
